Starting or growing a business in York County just got easier.

Local business owners and entrepreneurs now have access to a new resource designed to simplify the business journey—whether you’re launching a new idea, looking to expand, or just need help finding the right contacts. The Make It York County Small Business Toolkit is a free digital guide developed by the York County Regional Chamber, in partnership with York County Economic Development and Visit York County.

The toolkit is packed with practical tools, checklists, and resources that cover everything from permits and funding to networking and marketing.

York County already ranks as one of the top places to live and do business—No. 4 in South Carolina according to Niche—and is part of a state ranked second in the nation for business growth. This new toolkit builds on that momentum by removing barriers and making information more accessible to the local business community.

What’s Inside the Toolkit?

  • Startup and licensing checklists
  • Local and state funding resources
  • Networking and mentorship opportunities
  • Marketing and business development tools
  • Guidance on expansion and growth planning

It’s the kind of resource that can save hours of searching and uncertainty—empowering business owners to focus on what really matters: building their business.

“Our goal is to help business owners spend less time chasing information and more time building something great,” said Mitch Miller, Director of York County Economic Development. “This toolkit does exactly that.”

The launch of this initiative reflects a broader commitment from York County leaders to invest in small business success. It’s also a nod to the important role these businesses play in shaping the region’s culture, economy, and visitor experience.

“From shops and cafes to outfitters and artisans, small businesses shape the experience of York County for visitors and residents alike,” said Andy Clinton, President and CEO at Visit York County. “This toolkit helps those businesses thrive—and tells the story of our community.”
