The South Carolina Strawberry Festival is nearly here, and this week kicks off the pre-festival events that make this exciting season even sweeter. From pageants and races to the sold-out golf tournament and a signature evening soirée, there are plenty of ways to join in the fun and celebrate all things strawberry.

Pageant Weekend Kicks Things Off

The festivities begin with a longstanding tradition that highlights local charm and celebrates local participants of all ages. Both pageants take place at Catawba Ridge High School and begin at 7PM.

  • Friday, April 17: The Little Miss Strawberry Pageant takes place this Friday, featuring the youngest participant as they take the stage in this sweet and spirited competition.
  • Saturday, April 18: The spotlight continues this Saturday, with the Teen, Miss, and Mrs. Strawberry Pageants, where contestants showcase confidence, poise, and personality.

Beyond building lasting friendships and serving as ambassadors for the Town of Fort Mill throughout the year, each South Carolina Strawberry queen is deeply committed to a purpose greater than the crown. The pageant is rooted in a “Cause Before Crown” motto, meaning every contestant represents a cause they are passionate about. Those who are crowned use the year to raise awareness and make a meaningful impact in the community through their chosen cause.

A Sold-Out Day on the Course

On Tuesday, April 21, golfers will gather for the annual Strawberry Festival Golf Tournament. This popular tournament at Springfield Golf Club is already sold out—a testament to how much the community looks forward to it each year. Players can expect a fun and competitive day on the course, all in support of festival programming.

Lace Up for the Strawberry Sprint & Stroll

Next weekend brings one of the most active and family-friendly events of the lineup, the 6th Annual Strawberry Sprint & Stroll 5K and Fun Run on Saturday, April 25, hosted by Fort Mill Economic Partners (FMEP).

Whether you’re a seasoned runner or just looking for a fun way to get moving with the kids, this event offers something for everyone. It’s a great way to soak in the energy of festival season while enjoying the outdoors!

The 5K race begins at 9:00AM., followed by the one-mile Fun Run at 10:00AM., making it a great event for competitive runners, casual walkers, and families.

After crossing the finish line, participants can stick around for the Runner’s Village, which features local merchants, food trucks, music, and a kids’ zone. Berry B. Good, Fort Mill’s beloved strawberry mascot, and the reigning Strawberry Queens will be in attendance as well!

An Evening to Remember at the 5th Annual Strawberry Soirée

Also happening on Saturday, April 25, the 5th Annual Strawberry Soirée offers an elevated way to celebrate. Hosted at the beautiful Clebourne House, this semi-formal evening supports the Fort Mill History Museum.

Guests can enjoy cocktails, hors d’oeuvres, a silent auction, wine and bourbon pulls, live music, and a special exhibit honoring local veterans. This is always a wonderful time to connect with others and support a meaningful cause.

From crowning local queens to crossing finish lines and raising a glass for a great cause, these pre-festival events set the tone for an unforgettable Strawberry Festival season in Fort Mill.
